Job Description
Do you have experience as a lead plastic extrusion operator and are seeking an exciting career with a company with over 50 years of history and years of sales growth? We are a mid-sized, privately owned Plastic Sheet Extrusion company valuing professional growth and personal development. RM Biltrite is seeking mechanically inclined individuals with a proven history of operating a Plastic Extrusion line. Our most skilled extrusion operators can make up to $40 an hour. Starting pay is based on the level of experience a candidate has and will be assessed through a test given by one of our process technicians.

Responsibilities

Ensures timely startups and shutdowns to maximize productivity and reduce unnecessary downtime of Extrusion lines

Sets up and operates extruder with the appropriate settings for regrinding, color and virgin material, making all necessary adjustments to produce quality components. Detects and diagnoses surface defects of the product, die lines, blemishes, color variations, etc.

Change extrusion dies on extrusion machine following the SOPs defined by the company, making sure the correct size die is utilized for the current product scheduled.

Select and load raw material into machine and set parameters on machine control panel (100%).

Maintain production standards and quality standards by observing machine operation, adjusting settings and notifying leadership if malfunctions are detected (100%).

Conduct periodic quality inspections as required by Work Instruction and Work Order (100%).

Complete quality and production data entry on paper or in computer to document manufacturing operations (100%).

Troubleshooting lines experiencing production issues

Knowledge of plastic raw materials (virgin, regrinds, colorants, etc.) used in extrusion process

Following safety protocols and maintain the cleanliness of their assigned line

Setting up, operating, tearing down the extrusion line

Monitor and inspect the quality of finished goods, signing off on the first article at the beginning of the shift or beginning of a new run after a changeover.

Complete quality and production data entry on paper or in computer to document manufacturing operations (100%).

Work as a team to maintain department quality

Coaching less experienced operators

Reporting the results of production
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required
-
Five years machine operator experience required and familiarity with Extrusion process.

Minimum of 3 years of direct, hands-on, experience involving the use of thermoplastic extrusion and converting equipment.

Energetic and personable demeanor, be self-motivated.

Must be able to use a tape measure, length gauge, and precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and various quality gauges

Must have good mechanical aptitude and acceptable math skills (i.e., division, multiplication, fraction to decimal conversion, etc.)

Operate a Forklift or other powered material handling equipment as assigned.
Benefits & Work Schedule
Work Hours: Our day shift runs 7am - 7:30pm - 3 days per week
Overtime available as production needs require
(37.5 hours is full time) Paid 40 hrs
Salary: From $32 per hour
Sign-up Bonus: (requires perfect attendance)
90 Days- $300 | 6 Months- $500 | 24 Months- $1,500
TOTAL $3,500
